Notice is hereby given that pursuant to Folly Beach Code of Ordinances, Section 31-50 through 31-54, a general election will be held in the City of Folly Beach, South Carolina on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 to fill the expired terms of the Mayor and three (3) councilpersons of the City of Folly Beach.
Filing packets for candidates may be picked up at the Municipal Clerk’s Office, 2nd Floor, Folly Beach City Hall, 21 Center Street, Folly Beach, South Carolina between Thursday, January 18, 2018 through Friday, February 2, 2018 from 9 am – 12 pm and 1 pm – 5 pm.
Any candidate wishing to have his/her name on the ballot must file a Statement of Candidacy and pay a $50 filing fee for Mayor seat and a $25 filing fee for Council seat to the Municipal Clerk by 12:00 pm (noon) on the last day to file. The last day to file is Friday, February 2, 2018.
This election shall be at-large, non-partisan, and by majority vote as determined by South Carolina Code 5-15-62.

NOTE: The last day to register to vote by mail is March 3, 2018. The last day to register in person is Friday, March 2, 2018.
At 9:00 a.m., on Election Day, the Charleston County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will begin the examination of the absentee ballot return envelopes. This process will take place at the elections office, 4367 Headquarters Road, North Charleston, SC.
The Municipal Election Commission will hold a hearing to certify the results of the municipal election and, if necessary, to determine the validity of ballots challenged in this election on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 11:00 am in Council Chambers located at 21 Center Street, Folly Beach, South Carolina. Run-off election, if necessary, will be held Tuesday, Apri1 17, 2018.
