The City of Folly Beach Public Safety Department is accepting applications for the following positions:
Parking Enforcement and Beach Patrol
Requirements
1. High School Diploma or GED
2. No felony or serious misdemeanor convictions
3. Must be able to lift 20 pounds, bend, sit for long periods, and work in outdoor environment
4. Must have strong work ethic and be a team player
5. Seasonal position pay is set at $10 an hour
6. No benefits
PSO
1. Law Enforcement Certification, or Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate Certification,
or NFPA Firefighter II, or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college
2. No Felony or serious misdemeanor convictions
3. Must Pass drug screening, physical, background investigation, polygraph, and psychological
4. Must have not used or experimented with marijuana or other illegal narcotic within the past
three years
5. Must pass a physical agility test, oral board, written test, and personality assessment
6. Starting pay $15.51 an hour with no experience to $17.11 an hour based on experience and
degrees
7. Full benefit package to include medical, dental, state retirement, and all equipment
provided with a take home vehicle if requirements are met
PSO Corporal
1. Three years as a full time certified post academy law enforcement officer
2. Preference given to applicants with supervisory experience but not required
3. High School Diploma or GED with preference given to those with accredited college credits
4. No Felony or serious misdemeanor convictions
5. Must Pass drug screening, physical, background investigation, polygraph, and psychological
6. Must have not used or experimented with marijuana or other illegal narcotic within the past
three years
7. Must pass a physical agility test, oral board, written test, and personality assessment
8. Starting pay $16.00 an hour to $18.64 an hour based on experience and degrees
9. Full benefit package to include medical, dental, state retirement, and all equipment
provided with a take home vehicle if requirements are met
Dispatcher and Part Time Dispatcher
1. High school diploma or GED
2. No felony or serious misdemeanor convictions
3. Must have not used or experimented with marijuana or other illegal narcotic within the
past three years
4. Must be able to lift 20 pounds, bend, sit for long periods, and work in a high demand
environment
5. Must have strong work ethic and be a team player
6. Full time dispatchers will be required to achieve a Law Enforcement 3 certification. Not
applicable for part time dispatchers
7. Must complete all pertinent training within six months of hire
8. Full time dispatcher starting pay $12.63 an hour no experience to $15.41 an hour based on
experience and education
9. Part time dispatcher $12.00 an hour
