Mayor's Message

Good Day to all.

I want to talk to you on several important issues. The first being the raccoon problem we have on Folly Beach. We have long been a community that has looked after and cared for many wildlife animals. Unfortunately, I understand from DNR we have upset the balance of nature by feeding the wildlife and specifically the raccoons. We are now faced with a diseased overpopulation caused by our human interference. I must ask you, DO NOT FEED RACCOONS! If you have pets please feed them inside your homes and do not leave food outside of your houses. According to DNR we could be faced with a public health hazard.

Secondly, you MUST VACCINATE YOUR DOMESTIC ANIMALS AGAINST RABIES! YOU MUST REGISTER YOUR DOMESTIC ANIMALS WITH THE CITY!

The City of Folly Beach will hold its annual rabies clinic on Saturday 26 April 2008 from 9:00 AM to Noon at the Fire House. The cost will be $3.00 per rabies shot and $3.00 per pet tag. I’m asking that you please take advantage of this opportunity to have your pets vaccinated.

Lastly please do yourself a favor and if at any time you have questions concerning City Government, please, please come by or call City Hall and ask your questions. I would also ask you to please put your in depth questions in writing so the Staff will have something to work from. Some questions take several days of research to provide a proper answer.

My door is always open at any time for you to come in and chat.

Try to keep warm!

Carl
