WHEN AND HOW APPOINTED
Governed by Folly Beach Code section 33.065.
The Board shall consist of seven members elected by City Council to staggered three year terms. The Mayor and City Council shall make every effort to appoint individuals to vacant seats on or before June 1 of each year.
The Chairperson shall be elected by the Board, who shall serve for one year or until he or she is re-elected or his or her successor is elected and qualified.
Shall be full-time, year round residents and registered voters of the city. Full-time, year round resident shall be determined by address appearing on voter’s registration card, driver’s license, and most current federal tax return.
The Board of Zoning Appeals shall have the following powers:
(1) To hear and decide appears where it is alleged there is error in an order, requirement, decision or determination made by an administrative official in enforcement of Chapter 154 of this code; and
(2) To hear and decide appeals from variances from the requirements of Chapter 154 of this code when strict application of the provisions of the chapter would result in unnecessary hardship.
