• Planning, design, and construction management for capital improvement projects: transportation, storm drainage, drinking water, sanitary sewer, etc.
• Plan review, permitting, and construction inspection on development projects
• Highway encroachments and driveway permits
• Review and approve street light requests
• Maintain pavement management system and annual road condition rating survey
• Analyze road closing and road opening requests
• Produce and maintain City maps, including the official City map
• Maintain as_built drawings and system maps for roads, utilities and drainage
• Consult with property owners, developers, and all City Departments

S a n i t a t i o n

Monday and Thursday: Household garbage, placed for collection before 7:00 A.M.
Tuesday and Wednesday: Yard trash and man made items, ie. furniture, beach chairs, small appliances, etc.
Friday: metal, white goods, old bicycles, etc.

Curb-side recycling is scheduled by Charleston County Solid Waste Management. At present their schedule is every other Monday morning. Contact 843.720.7011

PLEASE CALL 843-588-2447 TO ARRANGE PICKUP OF APPLIANCES, FURNITURE, BULKY ITEMS. CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS WILL NOT BE PICKED UP.

No "Contractor Debris" should ever be placed on any street right of way! Multifamily and commercial garbage collection is provided through the use of bulk containers. This service may be provided by the city or by a private waste hauler at the option of the property manager or commercial establishment.

Streets and Walks Services:

Report need for asphalt pothole patching, dirt road paving, etc.

Street sweeping

Maintain sidewalks and bicycle trails

Install and maintain street signs

Pick up hurricane debris

For schedule maintenance of drainage ditches and storm drainage pipes.

Office Hours: 8:00AM to 5:00 PM

The crews typically work Monday-Friday 7:00AM-3:00PM
