UPDATE on conditions of Tropical Storm Debby: 8/7/24 9:00 am

Tropical Storm Debby is now positioned off the coast of Charleston and is predicted to turn later today and come on shore north of the city. While the total rainfall amount has been lowered and is no longer considered a catastrophic threat, substantial rain may be becoming in bands throughout this evening and tomorrow. The rain will be accompanied by gusts in the low tropical storm range. Continue to monitor new sources, avoid unnecessary travel, and respect any barricades blocking flooded roads.

UPDATE on conditions of Tropical Storm Debby: 8/6/2024 5:00pm

The current forecast shows intermittent rain bands tonight through tomorrow, but the total anticipated rainfall amount has been lowered. Lower totals can still create flooding on top of rain that has already fallen. The highest wind probability is now Wednesday night through Thursday as Debby approaches land near Charleston. The severity of impacts over the next few days is highly dependent on the track of the storm tomorrow. Please monitor news and emergency information sources closely.
